Big farmhouse-style breakfasts have been cooking in kitchens across the UK to raise money for charities.

Over 200 'Farmhouse Big Breakfasts' were served up for charity at a fundraiser in North Yorkshire, which raised almost £7,000.

Lindsey and Will Hitchen, who run St George's Court B&B near Ripon, North Yorkshire, hosted a three-day event or national farming charity the Addington Fund, and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Addington Fund offers a vital lifeline and safety net to farmers in desperate need of housing or emergency funds.

It was the second Big Breakfast bonanza staged by the couple. The first in 2011 netted over £3,000 for the same two charities, with the latest event boosting the St George’s Court kitty to around £10,000.

In Wales, the Farmer's Union of Wales (FUW) has been promoting their farmhouse breakfast campaign to raise money for charities such as the Alzheimer’s Society Cymru and The Farming Community Network (FCN).

The FCN is a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times.

In order to promote the health benefits but also the variety of top quality Welsh breakfast produce available, the Denbighshire branch of the FUW hosted a farmhouse style breakfast on Saturday January 27.

The breakfast raised £800 for the union’s charitable causes.

Mari Dafydd Jones, the FUW’s Denbigh and Flint CEO, said: "We had a great turn out and lots of support from our members and there really is no better place for bonding people together and sharing ideas than over good food and that’s exactly what we did with our breakfast."
