Farming Minister George Eustice told poultry industry leaders that he could make no decision on beak trimming until he received the report of an advisory group.

The Minister was speaking to delegates at the Egg and Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) at the beginning of November, as the British egg industry waited to see whether a ban on the practice of beak trimming would go ahead. His speech came just days after the chairman of the influential House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee (EFRA), Neil Parish, told FarmingUK that he hoped and expected that the proposed ban would be deferred for many years.

However, the Farming Minister refused to be drawn on a decision. He explained his position in an interview with FarmingUK TV.
