Four farms from the Devon County Council estate are now available to let from March 2019 on a seven year Farm Business Tenancy.

Those looking to start their careers in farming have been urged by the council to look at the new offerings.

NPS South West Ltd manages the County Farms Estate, totalling 3,873 hectares (9,570 acres).

The estate currently comprises 68 fully equipped residential dairy and mixed livestock farms categorised into starter and progression units ranging from 37 to 301 acres.

All new farm lets are by Farm Business Tenancy Agreements under the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995.

The four farms available to let from 25th March 2019 are all on a seven year Farm Business Tenancy.

These are Fairfield Farm, a residential starter dairy farm extending to 51.72 hectares (127.81 acres); Ten Oaks Farm, a residential starter dairy farm extending to 37.82 ha (93.48 ac); Churchlands Farm, a residential starter mixed farm extending to 15.05 ha (37.19 acres); Furze Cottages Farm, a residential starter mixed livestock farm extending to 42.51 ha (105.08 acres) with an optional additional 30.56 ha (75.60 acres).

The estate aims to provide people with their first opportunity to farm but with a view that within a reasonable time frame, they secure an independent livelihood from agriculture.
