A fundraising page has been set up to help a farming family get through their difficult time after the death of a family member.

Charlotte Silvester, who farms in near Frome, Somerset, lost her husband to suicide on the 14th of February, near her son's 7th birthday.

On a Facebook post, she said: "My husband shot himself yesterday. I am now a widow and have my 4 children to bring up on my own. Words fail me."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to get the family through this difficult time.

It reads: "This GoFundMe page is for anyone willing to contribute to help Charlotte and her 4 children over the next few difficult weeks."

The fund has already raised £560 in the space of 19 hours as of 16th February.

This week, a campaign that focuses on mental wellbeing in the farming industry has been launched amid increasing levels of depressing within the industry.

'Mind Your Head', a new campaign by Farm Safety Foundation, hopes to shine a light on the increasing depression levels and suicide rates in the industry.

It says such rates are the highest of any occupational group (ONS), and farmers do not have a "good track record" when it comes to taking care of themselves.
