A lamb has been shot dead by a gunman who walked onto a farm and killed it by shooting it through the head.

The distraught farmer found the dead lamb with a single gunshot wound to its head.

Cambridgeshire police are now seeking help from witnesses and information after the bizarre killing, which police think was at random.

Police were called to the crime at Alconbury Weston Road, Buckworth, near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

A police spokesman told Cambridge News: "We were called at 11.24am on Saturday (September 30) with reports that a lamb had been shot on farm land between Alconbury Weston and Buckworth.

"The incident occurred between 6.30pm on September 29 and 8am on September 30. "Officers investigated the incident and explored all possible lines of enquiry. Unfortunately no arrests have been made."

In August, a farmer took to social media to express anger and emotion after a four-month-old calf was shot twice with a shotgun by thugs.
