Hampshire-based Jude’s Ice Cream has donated £500 to R.A.B.I, the family-owned firm is also donating ice cream for use at summer fundraising events.

Jude’s Ice Cream supplies some of Britain’s top chefs, restaurants and retailers and also supports a range of charities, giving away around 10 per cent of its profits to charities that work with young adults and children.

Operating from converted barns in the countryside, Theo Mezger began making ice cream as a hobby before selling some to the local pub.

From there, Theo’s vision to ‘create the world’s tastiest ice cream’ with milk produced by local cows snowballed and Jude’s Ice Cream – lovingly named after Theo’s wife – was born.

Theo and Jude are now directors, while sons Alex and Chow also work full-time in the business.

'Passionate about supporting British farming'

Supporting farmers and the local community is an integral part of the Jude’s Ice Cream ethos, in addition to reducing food miles and promoting recycling.

Laura Pink of Jude’s Ice Cream said: “We are making a Great British ice cream using the best of British ingredients and we want our ice cream to be enjoyed throughout the UK.

“We are delighted to be supporting R.A.B.I this summer. We are passionate about supporting British farming, particularly in these uncertain times, and are pleased to be able to play a small part in support of R.A.B.I.”

Jude’s sources milk from a local dairy, which produces milk from a herd of Holstein Friesians.

The milk is then mixed with free range British eggs, cream, sugar and other ingredients (depending on flavour) and then pasteurised. More than 50 different flavours are now available, including gin & tonic.

Suzy Deeley, R.A.B.I corporate development manager, added: “We’re excited about this new and developing partnership with Jude’s. They illustrate all that’s good about farming and take a real pride in everything they do.”
