A 64-year-old man has died after his vintage tractor overturned and crushed him to death on-farm in Devon.

The man was towing another tractor in Umberleigh when it flipped, trapping him underneath yesterday (28 August).

He later died of his injuries at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services were called at 2.30pm after the 1950s Ferguson T20 tractor overturned in a field and trapped the driver underneath.

"The tractor had been towing another tractor when the incident happened.

"The driver, from Umberleigh, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on arrival at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth."

This is the second death to have happened on-farm over the Bank Holiday weekend. In other news, a Durham farmer has been killed in a "tragic accident" involving bale, police have confirmed.

Police collision investigators are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 560 of 28/08/17.
