A 71-year-old man has died a week after being seriously injured in an incident involving a small tractor in Cornwall.

Frank Tippett was using the tractor for maintenance work at Shepherds Waste Range, Zelah near Truro, where he spent time as a volunteer.

The vehicle left a track and descended around eight foot down a bank.

Mr Tippett, from St Austell, suffered a head injury and was taken to Derriford Hospital.

The incident happened around 1.20pm on Thursday 13 December and Mr Tippett died of his injuries in hospital a week later, Thursday 20 December.

In 2015/2016, tractor related incidents accounted for almost 25% of fatal accidents in agriculture.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and asking any witnesses to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log 519 of 21/12/18.
