Dairy giant Muller is increasing its standard non-aligned milk price by 1.5 pence per litre from August.

The increase follows the UK’s second-largest dairy processor's 0.5ppl deduction from the June (now 4.75ppl positive this year to date).

This takes its liquid standard litre up from 26.19ppl to 27.69ppl, before the retailer supplement.

It comes as news that payments worth £2.4 million to Scottish dairy farmers will arrive in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days, the Scottish government has confirmed.

Dairy farmers patience has been wearing thin as market indicators for dairy commodities soar to levels not seen since the highs of 2013.
