NEW HOLLAND TS-A
It is the most hotly contested market sector in tractor production, and one that needs a superlative machine to reach the top and stay there. New Holland¡¦s TS-A is more than a facelift and takes more than just sophisticated styling cues from its bigger brother, the new Series TG.
HORIZONT CAB
New Holland¡¦s beautiful lines and large uncluttered cab design draw the eye in the first instance, but the specification sheet¡¦s comprehensive list of features indicates that this is virtually an all-new tractor. Five models from 101hp (ISO) to 136hp (ISO), comprising two four-cylinder and three six-cylinder versions, are designed to offer the best-possible performance from ploughing and cultivation to haulage and loader work. Indeed, the TS-A can be specified with a choice of models from the new range of New Holland FL front loaders, which have been fully integrated and matched to the TS-A.
The broad range of uses for tractors in this sector was foremost in the designers¡¦ minds, with many new features to combine comfort and practicality. The completely new and aptly named HorizonTM cab offers superb visibility. Large one-piece side doors, the wide positioning of the A-pillars and the integration of the exhaust into the A-pillar provides unobstructed views in all directions, ideal for working in tight spaces.
The air-suspended seat offers a comfortable and commanding driving position, as well as a 300 swivel for easy access and a strain-free position when viewing out of the rear window. A full-size instructor¡¦s seat, with seat-belt, is optional.
The quiet cab boasts all the modern conveniences including air-conditioning and a high visibility roof panel, providing excellent visibility for loader models. A tilt and telescopic steering column lets the operator find the ideal driving position, while all controls fall easily to hand with the ergonomic layout of hitch, valve and transmission controls. Large storage bins complete a well-thought-out cab that creates a first-class working environment.
For those looking for the ultimate in smooth rides, effortless control and driver wellbeing, the options list for the TS-A allows customers to specify cab suspension - standard on Electro Command transmission models - SuperSteer㤠and front-axle suspension.
TRANSMISSION
Controlling the TS-A¡¦s power is easy with any of the four transmissions. All provide light, undemanding control of the tractor with Powershuttle options ideal for loader work. Users can specify to suit their needs and the machine¡¦s predominant role. 12x12 Synchro Command with mechanical shuttle is available on the TS100A and TS115A.16x16 Electro Command or 16x16 Active Electro Command semi powershift is available on the TS135A while other models also have the option of 24x24 Dual Command. Theses transmissions have left hand powershuttles and the choice of the 16x16 Electro Command transmission brings with it Comfort Ride cab suspension as standard, offering superb comfort and control.
Active Electro Command feature a torque-sensing flywheel enabling the user to take advantage of the Auto-transport and Auto-field modes, allowing automatic gear-shifting with up to 8 powershifts automatically managing road applications, 9 if fitted with 50 kph. Electro Command Rapide provides a 50kph option where regulations allow.
HYDRAULICS, PTO AND FRONT LOADER
Power and practicality in a lightweight package means the TS-A will be called upon for many different tasks. The TS-A¡¦s versatility is its greatest strength, with a comprehensive choice of hydraulic, pto and front loader options to suit all needs.
Fixed and variable displacement systems are offered with 80 litres/min and 113 litres/min respectively, in addition to a dedicated steering pump with an output of 40 litre/min. This huge reserve of hydraulic power allows operators to work with confidence, especially in applications such as loading with the New Holland FL loader. Rear linkage capacity is increased to an impressive 7864Kg.
Up to four rear remote valves and two mid-mount valves can be specified, and are controlled either mechanically or electro-hydraulically. Lower link sensing is part of the mechanical draft control system with the alternative of Electronic Draft Control system offering a further level of control and refinement.
The rear three-speed pto is complemented by ground speed, available with all transmissions. Soft start allows high inertia equipment to be brought up to speed smoothly and without strain, and the whole operation can be carried out from the convenient fender-mounted pto controls. Automatic pto engagement and disengagement can be controlled by the rear linkage, while factory-fitted front linkage and pto can further extend the TS-A¡¦s versatility, perfect for applications such as mowing.
