RHASS confirms appointment of Royal Highland show manager

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), the membership organisation responsible for promoting the interests of Scotland’s farming and rural industry, has confirmed the permanent appointment of David Jackson as Royal Highland Show Manager.

Selected as interim show manager in November 2013, David successfully managed this year’s show, which attracted almost 180,000 visitors over four days (19th - 22nd June).

Recognising his contribution to Scotland’s largest outdoor event, which boosts the local economy to the tune of £100m, RHASS Chief Executive, Stephen Hutt, said:

“David has impressed the Society with his skill in managing a very complex event. His expertise attained from running world-class events has brought a fresh approach to an already well-established and much-loved show and we look forward to seeing further innovation over the coming years.”

David added: “It is a huge privilege to be appointed Show Manager for the UK’s premier agricultural show. The ‘Highland’ not only presents the best the industry has to offer but also provides a vibrant platform for Scotland’s finest food and rural life.

“Having one show under my belt, I am now in a good position to identify where we can enhance what is already a hugely successful show. Under the guidance of RHASS directors and with the support of my team, I am confident we can exceed the expectations of both the consumer and business audience as we continue to deliver an event worthy of the Society and Scotland as a whole.”

David has previously handled events such as Edinburgh’s Hogmanay and Southport Flower Show.
