A record number of people passed through the gate of this year’s Midlands Machinery Show, with the widest selection of products and advances in agricultural technology on display to date.

Visitors to Newark Showground were given access to the latest agricultural technology as well the opportunity to attend specialist seminars on topics as varied as water management and soil biology, in addition to live farm handling experiences.

Jake Clover, a young farmer, commented: “I really enjoyed the farm handling; the ArmaTrac tractor was better than I expected. I’ve been farming all my life – it’s in the family. The show has been a great experience.”

Organised by Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, The Midlands Machinery Show is in its third year and more than 250 companies had stands at the two-day event.

George Taylor, show manager, said: “We knew this was going to be an outstanding year as we welcomed over 3,000 guests on day one alone - almost double the number recorded in 2015. Despite the typical November weather, exhibitors reported a successful two days. The feedback from visitors, whom came to do business as well as discover the latest technology, has been fantastic. The dates for next year are 22 & 23 November and we are already looking forward to welcoming even larger numbers of both visitors and trade-stands.”

The show saw a number of exclusive launches: conservation tillage specialists Mzuri introduced its newly updated Pro-Til coulter system, while East Bridgford-based D Clifford & Sons introduced TRB round bale trailers, made by the Anderson Group in Quebec, Canada.

Judges also recognised the most innovative stands at the show. Altek won Best Overall Stand in Show and Best Agricultural Stand in Show. The judges commented that Altek “demonstrated its innovative products in a clear and participative style.”
