Tractor driver sentenced to 18 weeks in prison for being five times over drink drive limit

A tractor driver who was caught by police almost five times over the drink drive limit has been jailed for 18 weeks.

Leicestershire Police spotted 36-year-old Ben Bickens driving the red tractor last Tuesday (14 March).

Incredibly, the driver was almost five times over the legal drink drive limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

He was charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without valid insurance.

Bickens, of Leicester Forest East, Leics., was jailed for 18 weeks by magistrates on Thursday.

On the Hinkley Police Facebook page, officers wrote: “On Tuesday, March 14 the driver of this tractor was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

“He was subsequently charged with drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without valid insurance.

“He was almost five times over the drink drive limit.

“He was placed before a court and sentenced to 18 weeks in prison and banned from driving for five years.”
