Two Northern Irish farmers have been jailed following convictions for a range of animal welfare offences.

The two farmers, from Armagh, were convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court on the 25 October.

Both farmers received five months’ imprisonment on six charges and three months’ imprisonment on three charges, to run concurrently.

The farmers have been disqualified from keeping all animals for life, and the government was awarded a deprivation order in respect of nine animals currently in its possession.

They have both been fined a combined total sum of £2000.

The case arose as a result of an anonymous complaint about the welfare of the animals kept on the premises.
