A dairy museum in the US has challenged Japanese technology giant Nintendo to a cow-milking contest.

After seeing a cow milking game included in Nintendo's new video game console Switch, Billings Farm & Museum in Vermont has issued a real-life milking challenge to Nintendo, which the company has reportedly accepted.

The museum sent Nintendo a letter, challenging them to a contest to see who can milk cows the fastest. Billings Farm & Museum shared the letter on Facebook, along with some light-hearted talk.

The farm sent the tongue-in-cheek letter to Nintendo deploring that the video game '1-2 Switch' has "taken all the challenge out of milking".

"We have 30 prize-winning Jersey milking cows that we milk twice a day, and it is NEVER that easy," Billings Farm said in a letter signed by Alayna Perkins, the museum's farm manager. "We also think that you guys look pretty slow."

Nintendo replied from its verified account on Facebook saying "Challenge accepted."

One Facebook user, Agi Schafer, said: "Great stuff. Go dairy farmers."

Billings Farm is a living history museum, in that it is a fully operational Jersey dairy farm with exhibits, educational programming and other events.
