A farmer who was killed following a tragic farm accident has been described as "much-loved" who had a "passion for farming".

Harry Gibson, 25, from Beragh in County Tyrone, died on Saturday (22 September) after what his family describes as a tragic accident.

Seskinore Young Farmers’ Club, which Harry was a member of, posted a tribute on Facebook saying they "express sincere condolences" to the Gibson family.

The farmer was also a former pupil at Omagh Academy, who also posted a tribute saying Harry was "passionate about farming".

A family notice described Harry as the “loving son of Mervyn and Susan, much-loved twin brother of Charlotte, dear boyfriend of Alison, a dearly loved grandson and nephew”.

“Will be sadly missed by his loving mum, dad, sister, girlfriend and the entire family circle.”

Farming has the highest rate of fatal injury of all the main industry sectors, around 18 times as high as the all industry rate.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) announced its latest annual fatal injuries in its agriculture report 2017/2018, calling the figures "appalling".

29 fatal injuries to agricultural workers were recorded in the report and the sector continues to account for a large share of the annual fatality count (20%).
