We are a mixed farm in Oxfordshire, covering 500ha, milking 300 Holstein Friesian cows (250 in milk) twice a day through a 24/24 herringbone parlour. Currently our cows are averaging 9500 on a full tmr feeding program along with paddock grazing. We calve all year round with milk being supplied on a premium contract with all data and records kept on uniform. There has been significant investment in the last few years improving infrastructure and facilities.
We are looking for someone to work within a team of 4 reporting directly to the herd manager with all aspects of the dairy responsibilities including occasional milking, cleanliness, animal welfare and calf management. The job will also include telehandler and tractor work i.e. scraping out, bedding down, loading Keenan feeder wagon etc
You will have some experience in dairying, be passionate about cows and have a keen eye for livestock. The ability to AI would be very useful. We are keen to invest in training on a long term basis.
