One of Britain's biggest farming businesses has entered into a series of partnerships who will take over the operational management of its farms.

Following its announcement on restructuring in November last year, Farmcare, which farms over 13,000ha, has entered into partnerships with several leading farming businesses.

These new partnerships have now all been agreed. Farmcare employees who are involved in operational farming have transferred to work for the new partners.

The changes to the business have also seen Farmcare closing its central office in Barnsley and selling its fruit farms to new owners.

Farmcare will now cease operational farming but will continue to develop its land and property assets, investing further where appropriate.

Farmcare Chief Executive, Richard Quinn, said: “These new partnerships with leading contractors across the UK, will increase the economic resilience of the farms to ensure their long term prosperity.

“The Farmcare team has worked hard over the last four years to modernise the business, and these new partnerships will enable each of our farms to continue to develop and perform at an even higher level.

Mr Quinn added: “In securing these partnerships we have been pleased that all of our operational farming staff have transferred to work for the new partners, and that we have helped all of our support staff to find new roles.”
