A farmer has died after falling to his death through a roof he had gone to inspect after it had been damaged in a storm.

Owen Bryn Edwards, 70, was seriously injured in the fall at the family farm, Tyddyn ‘Ronnen, Llanuwchllyn, near Bala in Wales.

He was airlifted to hospital in Stoke where medics battled to save him, but passed away.

His friend, Dyfydd Roberts, said Mr Edwards was a “true Welshman” and “family man” and his family - including wife, Mair, and three daughters and a son, Elain, Llinos, Enfys and Telor as well as his grand-children - meant “everything to him”.

Cllr Alan Jones Evans, Llanuwchllyn, told the Daily Post: “Everybody has been shocked by the news. Bryn was such a careful and diligent man. He was more than a farmer, he was also a craftsman. He was very proud of the success of his children and enjoyed the company of his grand-children.

"It’s up to us now to carry on telling them stories about taid and keep memories of him alive."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at around 1.15pm on Tuesday to reports of an accident at an address in the Llanuwchllyn area of Bala. We sent an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance to the scene, and a man was taken to hospital in Stoke in a serious condition.”
