The pig industry is inviting pig farmers and any businesses connected to the industry to complete a survey to gauge how reliant the industry is on migrant labour.

The future availability EU labour in the pig industry is one of our biggest concerns in the aftermath of the vote to leave the EU.

And it is not just about migration - the weak pound is already making UK work less attractive for some foreign workers.

In order to make the strongest case possible to the government for policies that will allow the industry to continue accessing EU labour, the National Pig Association is asking farmers, processors and allied businesss how much foreign labour is currently used.

"We would like as many people as possible to complete the survey and would be grateful if you could help by distributing the survey link via social media, email or whatever means you prefer - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/X7Z8LMH," the National Pig Association said.

Yesterday, the dairy sector urged farmers to complete a survey link text which aims to analyse foreign labour's impact on the sector.
