Australia-Two new livestock vessels cost $250 million.

LIVESTOCK SHIPPING INDUSTRY GETS A BOOST.

Italian company Siba Ships and Wellards Rural Exports, are spending US$250 million on two new livestock vessels.

The vessels will be built in Croatia and each will have capacity for 17,000 head of cattle or 75,000 sheep, in air conditioned comfort.

The company already has two smaller vessels, currently under construction which cost $80 million and are due to be launched later this year.

The new vessels are 180 metres long and 9 decks high for cattle or sheep.They have improved ventilation and feeding facilities on the new vessels and they are environmentally friendly.


Wellards, are now operating from Brazil as well as Australia.

The company operates the worlds largest livestock vessel, that can carry 23,000 head of cattle.
