AUSTRALIA
SHEEP NUMBERS DOWN
Despite the official sheep numbers in Australia being the lowest since 1924, Western Australia is seeing the largest yardings of sheep, in memory and the meat plants are all running to full capacity.
Meat companies are concerned, that there is going to be up to a 30p reduction in ewes, for next year will have a serious impact on lamb numbers. Mutton exports were up 5% in 2008.
