Brazil-Organic Farming.
BRAZIL.
GOING ORGANIC.
There were 13,000 farmers in Brazil that registered to become organic farms in 2008, this was caused mainly by the sharp rise in the cost of fertilizers.
Organic exports were valued at US$12 million for the year of 2008, however as more farms gain accreditation this will increase.
Between 2006 and 2008, organ exports totaled 37,000 tons going mainly to Sweden and the Netherlands.
The demand for organic produce has been keen on the domestic market as well as for exports.
