United States-Global beef production for 2009.

WORLD BEEF PRODUCTION

BEEF PRODUCTION FORECAST TO RISE 1 % IN 2000

The United States Department of Agriculture (LMC) ,forecast a global rise in beef production for 2009,despite the decline in Australia and Argentina caused by the switch from beef to arable farming.

The LMC predict total beef consumption will rise by 554,000 tons to 60.5 million tones as more emerging economies switch to meat as their finances improve.

The increased output levels of Brazil, Mexico and the US, will be more than sufficient to cover the shortfall of Australia and Argentina, according to the report.

The US will increase production by 12 pc because of the increased weights in slaughtered carcasses. China will increase beef production by 7pc and India by 3 pc.

Demand for beef in Russia will increase 3pc,however consumption in the EU is forecast to drop by 1 pc.

The report suggests that overall beef production will increase globally by 1 pc in the full year and the full report is on the USDA website.

The global economic crisis may have a short term affect, on consumption of high priced cuts but the production numbers will remain the same.
