500,000th collection carried out under the National Fallen Stock Scheme
Half a million collections have now taken place under the National Fallen Stock Scheme!
During the same period, only around 700 complaints have been received by the helpline, 500 of which relate to a delay in stock being picked up and 200 being general complaints about the Scheme itself. This equates to there only being around 1 complaint made for every 1000 collections taking place.
The 500,000th collection took place from Mr Graham Kernohan, based in Broughshane, County Antrim. Mr Kernohan runs a mixed farm with three enterprises; fattening store lambs, a dairy herd and a poultry flock supplying O’Kane Poultry with chicken. The reason for joining NFSCo was that as part of the contract with O’Kane Poultry, there had to be an approved disposal outlet for fallen chicken.
Mr Kernohan uses Ulster Farm By-Products as his collector and disposal outlet and is very happy with the service they offer “After contacting them, my stock is always collected within 24 hours”.
