Agriculture union calls for government action
Government should take action after a recent spate of attacks on farmers, the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU SA) said on Tuesday.
President Paul van der Walt said it was extremely difficult to ask members and other farmers to stay calm after the recent farm murders.
"The security situation is unacceptable, and government has to take responsibility for whatever develops from this situation."
According to TAU SA, recent farm attack victims included Johan Myburgh, 33, who was shot whilst watching television on his farm between Groblersdal and Middelburg.
On Saturday a family was robbed and assaulted by 12 robbers on a farm in Doringrandjies outside Pretoria.
