CX series
New Holland Agriculture launches the new generation CX Series of combines – 2 five-strawwalker and 4 six-strawwalker models with improved perator comfort, grain and straw quality, productivity and versatility while preserving the soil with lower compaction.
The CX range has been expanded with the new CX8.85 450hp six-strawwalker model with a 12,500 litre grain tank. At the top of the range, the flagship CX8.90 is the highest capacity conventional combine in the world and, with its 360 kW (490 hp), vast 12,500 litre grain tank and cleaning systems, it delivers threshing and separation efficiency combined with a cleaning performance without equal.
“The CX Series is the latest generation in a long line of high performing conventional combines which began in 2001 with the launch of the first CX models and has been characterized by constant innovation,” stated Lars Skjoldager Sørensen, Head of Harvesting Product Management.
“The new CX Series remains true to this heritage; it is the highest capacity conventional combine in the world, featuring the best of New Holland’s technologies, such as the award winning Opti-Speed™, Opti-Clean™ and Opti-Fan™ systems, alongside the Tier 4B compliant ECOBlue™ Hi-eSCR engine. Contractors and multi-crop farmers will be able to switch between different crops quickly and easily, boosting their productivity. Large-scale farmers will achieve unprecedented profitability with the high capacity and unsurpassed straw and grain quality of the new CX Series.”
The Harvest Suite™ Ultra cab is new to the CX Series and the result of extensive customer consultation. It provides a spacious, comfortable and quiet working environment. The volume of the wide cab has been increased to 3.7 m³. The near silent 73dB(A) cab contributes to fatigue-free working days.
The new harvesting console has been designed to become an extension of the operator, with the controls of all key harvesting parameters ergonomically laid out. Operators are able to fine tune harvesting speed with the force based CommandGrip™ multifunction handle, which the CX Series shares with the flagship CR rotary combines and high horsepower tractors.
The 10.5 inch IntelliView™ IV colour touchscreen monitor is mounted on rollers so that it can be positioned just as the operator wants it. An optional second screen is perfect for IntelliSteer™ auto guidance and for displaying views from up to six cameras – one of which is pre-wired to assist with reversing.
Operators will be comfortable throughout the longest working days with a choice of three seat options, the top of the range leather trimmed seat offers heating and active ventilation, extended vertical travel and automatic weight adjustment to absorb the largest bumps for a smooth ride.
The spread of light from the new CX Series lighting package has been precision engineered to provide perfect visibility of the entire header and the field both ahead and behind the machine. An unloading auger light makes it easier to unload with precision without losing a single grain. A further innovation introduced to the new generation CX Series combines is the full LED work-lights package, which has a far brighter, wider and longer reach, providing excellent visibility up to 500 m ahead. In addition, the Harvest Suite™ Ultra cab has a 7% larger glazed area, taking it to 6.3m² for outstanding visibility day and night.
With the Opti-Speed™ strawwalkers, unique to New Holland, the combine automatically sets the strawwalker speed to match maximum throughput of the crop being harvested: wheat, corn, canola and rice. In addition, the system automatically slows down the strawwalkers when travelling uphill to keep all the grains safely inside the combine and speeds up when moving downhill to maintain efficient separation.
The Opti-Clean™ system improves cleaning performance by up to 20% by optimizsing the sieve stroke and throwing angles together with maximizsing cascade capacity. The longer stroke and steep throwing angle keep more material airborne maximizsing cleaning efficiency.
The award-winning Opti-Fan™ system further increases the efficiency of the cleaning system by automatically adjusting fan speed according to the incline. Once the desired fan speed is selected on flat ground, the fan will slow down when harvesting uphill to prevent losses and speeds up when travelling downhill to maintain a perfectly clean grain sample. The result: a clean sample, reduced losses and no operator intervention.
The powerful Opti-Spread™ residue management system has been designed for maximum efficiency. With the CX8.90 working with the largest 12.5 m Varifeed™ header, it easily meets any spreading width requirement. The Dual Chop™ technology ensures a superfine chop of all material.
The CX8.85 and CX8.90 combine’s 12,500 litre grain tank capacity is the largest on the market and with folding covers can be securely covered in the evening to prevent moisture entering the tank and it can be opened and closed from the comfort of the operator’s seat, thus maximizsing productivity. Unloading speed has increased by 14% which means the largest 12,500 litre grain tank can still be emptied in under 2 minutes thanks to a 125 litre/second unloading speed.
The CX7.90, CX8.80, CX8.85 and CX8.90 models are available with SmartTrax™ rubber tracks with Terraglide™ suspension system, providing an exceptionally smooth ride and excellent traction when harvesting, while preserving soil quality through reduced field compaction. With a top transport speed of 40kph at a mere 1400 engine rpm (where permitted), the new CX7 and CX8 range, when fitted with SmartTrax™ with Terraglide™ suspension, is the obvious choice for operations looking to enhance productivity, with more time in the field and less time on the road, and to save on their fuel bills – saving on fuel bills.
The CX Series combines feature sectional concaves that make switching between different crops such as small grain, corn and rice, quick and easy: it takes just under 20 minutes to do, as opposed to the traditional six hours. This, together with the wide range of concaves available, gives the CX Series the high versatility that is ideal for contractors and multi-crop farmers.
The CX Series combines benefit from the advanced engine technologies developed in partnership with sister brand FPT Industrial. The CX8.90 complies with Tier 4A regulations using an ECOBlue™ SCR engine that delivers 10% fuel savings compared to a Tier 3 engine with outstanding transient response for sustained productivity in all field conditions. All other CX7 and CX8 models use ECOBlue™ HI-eSCR technology to comply with the most stringent Tier 4B emissions standards, delivering highly responsive performance with outstanding efficiency.
FR Forage Cruiser
The new FR Forage Cruiser self-propelled forage harvesters deliver consistently high chop quality and industry-leading crop processing efficiency. This exceptional productivity is further enhanced by the powerful and fuel efficient performance of the new engines – with horsepower ranging from 476 to 775 – and ECOBlue™ Hi-eSCR Tier 4B technology, with the top model retaining the 20.1 litre 824hp engine.
The new five-model line-up offers superior comfort in the spacious flagship cab, enabling operators to make the most of the forage harvester’s exceptional productivity with its ergonomic layout and intuitive automation.
“New Holland has been at the forefront of forage harvesting technology for over 50 years with many industry firsts,” commented Lars Skjoldager Sørensen, Head of Harvesting Product Management. “The new FR Forage Cruiser builds on this strong heritage to deliver a highly productive, highly efficient package capable of reliably meeting the requirements of large scale contractors and cooperatives.”
The new FR Forage Cruiser features the largest cutter head in the industry – both in width and diameter – that powers through crop lumps effortlessly. The proven chevron knife design chops cleanly, quickly and, most importantly, uniformly. The cutter head is available in five configurations to match the specific chopping requirements: 2x8, 2x10, 2x12, 2x16 and 2x20 knives for a length of cut range of 6 to 33 mm, 5 to 27 mm, 4 to 22 mm, 3 to 16 mm, and 2 to 13 mm respectively. The proven Hydroloc feedroll drive system enables the operator to adjust the length of cut to match crop conditions on the go.
The large processing rolls, the widest in the industry at 30 inches wide, maximise throughput. The exclusive Variflow™ system enables the operator to change effortlessly from grass to corn configuration and back, as well as optimising crop flow in difficult to blow conditions for maximum throughput.
The new FR Forage Cruiser further improves on the spout. Already the widest, easiest to access in the industry, the spout now features full-length replaceable top and side liners, a new hard-faced flipper, stronger flipper cylinder and improved spout base lubrication. Efficiency can be further increased by automating trailer filling with the award-winning Intellifill™ spout guidance system: it guides the crop accurately into the trailer whatever the weather conditions, time of day or type of trailer.
All models of the new FR series feature engines developed by FPT Industrial. The two smaller models run versions of the proven Cursor 13 engine tuned to the constant high loads experienced when harvesting forage. The FR650 and FR780 mount the new Cursor 16 engine, recently named “Diesel of the Year 2014” by Diesel Magazine. Both engines deliver powerful performances with low fuel and DEF consumption. Tuning specific to forage harvesting delivers almost instantaneous transient response, making the Forage Cruisers able to handle sudden changes in load without stopping or plugging, therefore increasing capacity up to 5%* vs. the previous model. Fuel and DEF tank capacities are increased on all models to provide the autonomy customers need for long harvesting days. The top model FR850 runs a 20.1L Vector engine.
All but the largest model feature ECOBlue Hi-eSCR technology to meet Tier 4B emissions standards. As the engine design optimises combustion, particulate formation is very low. The after-treatment system cleans up the NOx created by the high combustion temperatures. The result is powerful performance combined with exceptional fuel efficiency.
The combined effect of the new Cursor engines and the ECOBlue Hi-eSCR technology enables the new FR models to use up to 21%* less fuel than the equivalent Tier 3 model at the same length of cut. Field tests carried out by the DLG German Agriculture Society show that the FR650 model delivers Best-in-Class fuel efficiency of 0.5 litres/ton chopping at 8mm in maize.
A new standard ECO mode setting can reduce fuel consumption in field conditions where it is not possible to load the engine fully, for example when harvesting low yield crops or in muddy fields. When engaged, the intelligent engine management system controls the engine’s speed and reactivity to minimise fuel use.
New Holland’s PowerCruise™ system maximises productivity by continually monitoring the actual power required and adapts the forward speed of the FR Forage Cruiser to reach the highest possible work rate through variations in crop conditions in the field.
The flagship cab of the new FR Forage Cruiser provides operators with a comfortable work station. The ample and quiet cab provides exceptional 360-degree panoramic visibility, with curved windows offering a perfect view of the header and spout, whatever its position. The new Deluxe air-suspended seat features automatic weight adjustment and variable shock absorption.
The backrest, lumbar support, seat pan angle and height are adjustable to provide the perfect seating position for the operator. A new leather and cloth luxury seat with heated and ventilated cushions and suspension upgrades is also available as an option on the top three models. The new slim steering column with a double-jointed design makes it easy to position the steering wheel for the best view of the header and maximum comfort.
Operator comfort and productivity is further enhanced by the intelligent and intuitive automation. All key machine parameters such as header control, spout engagement and Power Cruise™ activation, are controlled through the CommandGrip™ multi-function lever. The IntelliView™ IV monitor provides a view of machine functions at a glance.
T7.290 and T7.315 tractors
New Holland expands its tractor offering with two brand new models, the T7.290 and T7.315, to meet the demand for growers needing increased power, but the versatility to perform numerous jobs. These new T7 series tractors deliver power without compromise, class-leading torque and high efficiency. These models offer growers unparalleled versatility for performing a wide range of field and haulage jobs. Primary and secondary cultivations, drilling, baling, mowing and haulage tasks all fall within the capabilities of these new T7 models.
The Horizon cab provides a quiet and supremely comfortable operating environment, along with precision technology that enables growers to optimize efficiency and performance, while staying connected with their entire farming operation. These new models also feature New Holland’s revolutionary IntelliCruise™ tractor-baler automation that allows the New Holland BigBaler to control the tractor’s speed according to changes in the windrow to maximise productivity and bale consistency.
“These new models are perfect for farming operations that need the power of a large-frame tractor with the versatility of a medium-frame unit,” explains Sean Lennon, Head of Tractors, Telehandlers and PLM Product Management. “They can take on tasks that you would usually associate with a larger tractor while having the features to deliver great efficiency for PTO implements and transport work. They are ideal for farms and contractors whose tractors have to multi task.”
A fundamental design input of the T7.290 and T7.315 was to improve vehicle efficiency to new levels. The engine features New Holland’s ECOBlue™ Hi-eSCR (High-Efficiency Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to meet Tier 4B emissions standards. This after-treatment system, which has no CEGR or DPF, allows the engine to optimise combustion, torque and fuel efficiency, maximising power output from each cylinder. An electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger delivers the torque required to operate at low engine speed and react quickly to load changes.
These new T7 series models also feature New Holland’s award-winning Auto Command™ continuously variable transmission (CVT) with four direct drive points with 100% mechanical efficiency. These points have been positioned to ensure they match perfectly to the most frequently used speeds during high-speed field work such as baling or mowing, high-speed transport and heavy draft work.
For PTO work these new T7’s lead the field. A four speed rear PTO and a two speed front PTO allow the engine to be operated as efficiently as possible. If mowing in light crop conditions the operator simply uses the in cab speed shift to select 1000 rpm Economy for the front and rear mowers and then starts counting the fuel savings.
Hydraulic circuits have been redesigned to reduce parasitic losses, no oil moves on these tractors unless it is required, and with a 220 l/min pump available significant oil flow can be obtained at low engine speeds, again delivering fuel savings.
The two new T7 models can mount larger group 48 and 49 tyres (2050mm and 2170mm diameters) with a rear tyre width up to 900mm. This results in excellent traction and, most importantly, minimal soil compaction. An added benefit for the driver is the ability to monitor the tyre pressure on the IntelliView IV display: they can set the ideal pressure for the job they are performing and monitor the pressure on up to 16 tyres and receive a warning if the tyre pressure moves away from the set values, enabling them to optimise traction and minimise soil compaction and benefit from an early warning if a tyre is punctured, on a trailer for example. For enhanced manoeuvrability, the ABS SuperSteer option can reduce the turning cycle by up to 50% by automatically applying the inner brake as field turns are made.
The Horizon cab offers the premium comfort levels of T7 models with extremely quiet operation at just 69 dB(A), the new generation Auto Comfort™ ventilated seat with the quality trim of a luxury car, and the standard SideWinder II armrest. The new seat, together with the standard Comfort Ride™ suspension and new generation heavy-duty suspended front axle, provide an exceptionally smooth and cushioned ride. Combining this comfort with the commercial vehicle systems of ABS and an exhaust brake, the T7 becomes a benchmark for haulage work. At night all becomes clear with up to 20 LED worklights, the 360° packages leaves nothing in the dark.
The T7.290 and T7.315 automation features such as the latest generation Headland Turn Sequencing, IntelliSteer auto guidance and PLM™ Connect telematics, put the driver in full control of the tractor.
The new models also feature New Holland’s IntelliCruise™ ISOBUS Class 3 tractor-baler automation technology that enables the baler to control the tractor’s speed to optimise feed rate and produce constant flake thickness. The new T7 series tractors are engineered to be the perfect match for New Holland BigBalers and operators will see their productivity soar with this revolutionary feature.
