The Agricultural Industries Confederation has launched its Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) Register to provide a central information point for the agri-supply industry.
Since 2000, all companies involved in loading and transporting dangerous goods have been required, by a European directive, to appoint a qualified DGSA to guide them on the legal, safety and environmental aspects of transporting dangerous goods.
DGSAs are already required within the fertiliser, crop protection and some areas of the animal feed sectors, but there are further products which, in the future, may fall into the scope of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).
AIC is aware that it can be extremely difficult to locate a DGSA and this new service has been launched in response to this need. The aim of the register is to be a ’one-stop-shop’ to find a DGSA in your area.
Garry Rudd, AIC Services’ Technical Manager, said: "This new register is a valuable tool which will enable our members and trade assurance participants to find a DGSA without having to spend hours searching the Internet.
"The register, which is based on live up-to-date information, allows you to locate a DGSA either by proximity or by specialist area. It will help members and trade assurance participants to meet due diligence requirements with regards to dangerous goods and, just as importantly, save them time and money."
