Argentina-Farms and meat companies at a standstill.

ARGENTINA-FARM STRIKE ON AGAIN.

Farmers have launched a four day boycott starting on Saturday morning, which will mean no cattle or grain will be offered for sale and the markets will be closed.

The beef plants have enough cattle for the Monday kill and there should be no major affect on the domestic market.

The President has made no comment or response at this stage, however the farmers have said, " We have the best will to talk but we believe that we have been bamboozled and even attacked-we want dialogue to be encompassing and open- with real solutions in a framework of dignity".

The strike was announced only minutes after Production Minister Deborah Giorgi invited the farmers for talks, after the government has been refusing to meet the farmers for many months.

It has been reported in the Argentine press that there have been secret meetings going on with the farmers and the government, if these reports are to be believed then it would appear the situation is far more grave than is currently apparent.
