ARGENTINA- ASSISTANCE FOR FEED LOTS.
The government will provide special four year loans for the investment in feedlot infrastructure and grain purchasing. Cordoba will be the first state in Argentina to take advantage of this funding, with the construction of two 20,000 head feedlots in the state.
Argentinean President, Cristina Kirchner, first announced the initiative in late December 2008 and said at the time that a total five 40,000 head feedlots would be constructed, with the objective of producing 100,000 tonnes cwt of beef for export. The government initiative assumes that cattle will be fed for around 120 days, reaching a live weight close to 300kg.
