AUSTRALIA.
DECEMBER BEEF EXPORTS DOWN.
Beef exports for December were 79,340 tons in Australia, this is a drop of 6.36 % on sales in November.
The total exports for the year were 957,478 tons leaving Australia as the worlds second largest beef exporter after Brazil.
The surge in demand came mainly because of the fact that Argentina and Brazil were out of the Russian market. The strength of the Australian marketing will be seen in South Korea, now that the mighty US beef juggernaut is rolling over Japan and South Korea again after 5 years in the wilderness.
The new markets of Indonesia and the Philippines have been a large boost to the industry.
