A change in its cattle production geography is behind the decision by one of the State’s biggest beef producers to offload a prime, large-scale grazing property in the Mudgee district.
Minnamurra Pastoral Company is selling its 38780-hectare (9583-acre) "Wandoona Valley" at Wollar to achieve a more balanced spread of breeding and finishing country across its remaining holdings.
This follows a strategy adopted by the company’s Reid family principals in the past five years (in common with other large operators) of broadening the geographic base of its land holdings.
Purchases of more extensive pastoral properties at Gunnedah and Walgett have given the company a lower-cost breeding base, leaving some of its "inside" country surplus to requirements.
Previously, Minnamurra’s extensive breeding and finishing operations were all grouped around the "Cortina" property at Wollar.
