Beef shipments to Indonesia have surged in 2009, with Australia’s near neighbor suddenly emerging as its fourth-largest export market, according to official figures issued this week. Australian beef exports to Indonesia in the first two months of this year more than doubled to 7,644 metric tons from 3,033 tons in the year-ago period, according to figures issued by the government’s Department of Agriculture, which doesn’t comment on them.
