Strong demand resulted in values remaining fully firm for most descriptions at yesterday’s Roma Store Sale.
There were 6500 head yarded for the sale, where weaner steers reached 220c/kg, while feeder steers toped at 177c/kg.
The Roma Store Index rose just over half a point to 101.2 points.
Steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 177c/kg and averaged 166c/kg (+2); steers in the 350-400kg range reached 200c/kg and averaged 172c/kg (-1); and steers in the 280-350kg range reached 220c/kg and averaged 181c/kg (+9).
Weaner steers sold at similar rates to last week, with those in the 220-280kg range reaching 220c/kg and averaging 189c/kg (+0); while weaners under 220kg topped at 215c/kg and averaged 193c/kg (-4).
Daryl and Sue Wilkin, Lagoon Creek, Roma, sold 505kg Santa-cross steers for 171c/kg or $865/head, while Angus and Sally McGilvray, Womblebank, Mitchell, sold 483kg Angus-cross steers for 174c/kg or $841/head.
Kelly Hafemeister, Oakleigh, Injune, offloaded a line of 200 Brahman-cross and Angus-cross steers. Averaging 461kg, the steers topped at 170c/kg and averaged 166c/kg or $763/head.
Daryl Ahern sold 415kg Charolais-cross steers for 172c/kg or $715/head, while Allan and Heather Hirsch, Caranna, Charleville, sold 435kg Angus-cross steers for 174c/kg or $758/head.
Chris and Penny Skelton, Wanganui, St George, sold 426kg Brahman-cross steers for 146c/kg or $623/head, while Terry and Trish Dart, Thirlstone, Roma, sold 367kg Droughtmaster-cross steers for 170c/kg or $625/head.
Karoola Grazing Co, Karoola, Charleville, offloaded 364kg Droughtmaster-cross steers for 200c/kg or $728/head, and Rob Lister, Trevallan, Roma, sold 362kg Angus-cross steers for 196c/kg or $711/head.
Revilo Pastoral Co, Revilo, Mitchell, offloaded a line of 232 Santa-cross steers. Averaging 343kg, the steers reached 194c/kg and averaged 185c/kg or $634/head.
The Naprasnik family, Bungaroo, Yuleba, sold 321kg Hereford-cross steers for 165c/kg or $530/head and Charlie and Liz Frith, Glen Arden, Roma, sold 287kg Charolais-cross steers for 188c/kg or $541/head.
The Billing family, Rosevale, Wyandra, sold 281kg Angus-cross steers for a sale top of 220c/kg or $618/head and Bookaroo Enterprises, Lindervale, Dulacca, sold 277kg Charolais-cross steers for 200c/kg or $553/head.
The Wise family, Holybon, Warren, NSW sold 227kg Brangus steers for 204c/kg or $464/head.
Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 164c/kg and averaged 154c/kg (-4); heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 169c/kg and averaged 156c/kg (+2); heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 185c/kg and averaged 161c/kg (+0); and heifers under 220kg topped at 178c/kg and averaged 167c/kg (-1).
