AUSTRALIA-CATTLE MARKET PRICES.ROMA 3,500 HEAD OFFERED.
The Roma Store Index jumped to 99.8 points at Queensland’s benchmark Roma Store Sale on Tuesday following some good falls of rain in the area over the weekend.
The 3500-head yarding included some good quality pens of younger cattle which help lift weaner steer prices 13 cents to a top of 211c/kg.
Steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 174c/kg and averaged 161c/kg (+2), steers in the 350-400kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 169c/kg (+6) while steers in the 280-350kg range reached 206c/kg and averaged 173c/kg (+7).
Steers in the 220-280kg range reached 208c/kg and averaged 182c/kg (+13) while weaners under 220kg topped at 211c/kg and averaged 191c/kg (+13).
The Taylor family, Marjundale, Injune, sold 507kg Santa cross steers for 162c/kg or $821/head.
The Hutchins family, Bendiboi, Surat, offloaded a line of 192 Brahman cross and Santa cross steers. Averaging 450kg, the line topped at 172c/kg and averaged 162c/kg or $728/head.
Alex Brodie, Stratton, Roma, sold a line of 172 Brahman cross and Droughtmaster cross steers. Averaging 444kg, the line topped at 165c/kg and averaged 161c/kg or $717/head.
Ray Sinnamon, Charmana, Jackson, sold 415kg Santa cross steers for 174c/kg or $724/head while the McIntyre family consigned a pen of 354kg Angus cross steers from, Pinora, Jackson, that sold for 189c/kg or $670/head.
Rob Johnson, Ups and Downs, Injune, sold 352kg Charolais cross steers for 183c/kg or $646/head and Brian Cloherty, Reben Downs, Injune, sold 348kg Santa steers for 192c/kg or $670/head.
Delny Pastoral Co, Tamanick, Mitchell, sold a line of 184 Shorthorn cross steers averaging 342kg for a top of 176c/kg and average of 150c/kg or $513/head.
Glen Valley Pastoral Co, Glen Valley, Jundah, sold 273kg EU accredited Santa cross steers for 208c/kg or $568/head while Summer Hill Cattle Co, Wongamere, Morven, sold 214kg Droughtmaster cross steers for 211c/kg or $451/head.
Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 154c/kg and averaged 142c/kg (+0), heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 165c/kg and averaged 156c/kg (+12), heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 179c/kg and averaged 163c/kg (+16) while heifers under 220kg topped at 179c/kg and averaged 161c/kg (-9).
The Rule family, Manning, Tambo, sold 413kg Charolais cross heifers for 143c/kg or $591/head and Paul and Bernadette Brennan, Binda, Mitchell, sold 407kg Santa cross heifers for 134c/kg or $582/head.
The Bell family, Kinnoul, Taroom, offloaded 370kg Charolais heifers for 154c/kg or $570/head and the Forrest family, Oakleigh, Morven, sold 299kg Angus cross heifers for 165c/kg or $494/head.
The Christensen family, Pinnacle, Roma, sold 290kg Angus heifers for 148c/kg or $429/head and the Gray family, Wallabella, Wallumbilla, sold 286kg Brangus cross heifers for 159c/kg or $456/head.
Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 146c/kg and averaged 125c/kg (+0) while cows over 500kg reached 141c/kg and averaged 131c/kg .
AUSTRALIA-LIFT IN CATTLE PRICES.
The Eastern Young cattle Indicator (EYCI) has lifted 8ยข/kg, or 2.7pc, on the previous week to finish at 306.25ยข/kg cwt, at the conclusion of Wednesday’s markets.
Trade steers finished 3ยข dearer at 165ยข while feeder steers improved 10ยข โ to 162ยข/kg, according to the MLA.
Both the Japan ox and US cow indicators lifted 5ยข to settle at 161ยข and 125ยข/kg respectively.
In Queensland, rain in surrounding areas has reduced numbers at Dalby, while quality has remained mixed.
Store cattle attracted strong demand from restockers, which saw lightweight yearling steers sell to 205ยข and averaged 187ยข/kg. Export grades enjoyed a further lift in values with steers and bullocks 7ยข to 9ยข/kg dearer.
Cows improved 3ยข to 8ยข while heavyweights averaged 140ยข/kg.
In NSW, throughput at Casino remained firm with a light supply of yearlings and a good yarding of grown cattle.
Competition was stronger with most vealers improving 8ยข to 10ยข while lightweight yearlings finished 6ยข to 8ยข/kg dearer.
Steers and bullocks sold 3ยข to 7ยข dearer and cows improved 5ยข to 10ยข/kg.
In Victoria, the smaller yarding at Warrnambool met strong demand over most categories.
Yearling steers averaged 2ยข to 5ยข dearer with sales to 180ยข/kg. Heifers met mixed inquiry selling firm to 4ยข/kg cheaper.
Prices for grown steers and bullocks averaged 4ยข to 5ยข dearer which saw prime grown steers sell from 146ยข to 165ยข/kg.
Keen export interest lifted cow rates 3ยข to 10ยข with good quality lines selling to 146ยข/kg.
