Australia-More costs for exporters.

AUSTRALIA.

MORE COSTS FOR EXPORTERS.

Exporters are being ask to pay an additional AU$35 million a year, to cover the costs of the Australian Quarantine certification, that is required under Australian law.

This comes in the wake of the new proposed emissions tax, for farting and belching in cattle and sheep. "Country Australians must wonder when the nightmare under the new Labor government is going to end", according to Senator Nigel Scullion.

The government have cut over one billion dollars from rural and regional programs, according to the senator, who is the Shadow Minister of Agriculture. This new government policy is the same as the one imposed by the Hawke government in 1991, when the full costs were to be paid by the exporters.

It was the Hawke government, that came up with the plan for reducing the wool mountain in 1989. The Hawke government decided as there were to many sheep in Australia, that the government would assist the farmers by giving then free 22 rifle cartridges, in order that they could shoot their own sheep and bury them on the property.

This move by the Hawke government, was supported by the then controversial chairman of the New South Wales Meat Authority John Carter. In fact Carter had shot all the stock on his own property in a previous drought, rather than send them to the meat plants who were paying his inflated salary every month.

Carter was accused by one northern New South Wales meat plant owner, of being guilty of grading the company, based on his own personal feelings rather than the quality of the plant as Carter in 1990 had the power to grant licenses to abattoir in the state.
