Horse enthusiasts are getting set to saddle up for the inaugural Gundagai Giddyup from March 20 to 22, with up to $40,000 in prizemoney and prizes up for grabs.
The three-day event, to be held at the Gundagai Showground, will feature an elite horse sports program including campdrafting, polocrosse, a stockmen’s challenge, team penning, a horse sale and rodeo with bulls, broncs and barrels.
Gundagai Giddyup Incorporated president, Kate Lenehan, said the event, which had been in the planning stages for seven months, would promote horse sports and the Gundagai region.
"There’s nothing like it down here. We have got an ideal location and facilities, and everything is set up to cater for horse sports," Miss Lenehan said.
"Anybody who is a horse enthusiast will have plenty to see and it will be good quality as we are trying to keep the competition to level A-grade, high performance horse sport."
