HIGHER profitability and lower costs are the dream of every beef farmer - and now the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) can point you in the right direction.
Farmers are being invited to see how National Beef Association Chairman Duff Burrell, does it at Broome Park, Alnwick, Northumberland on Wednesday, November 2 from 10am to 3pm.
The event, funded by Defra as part of a regional farm demonstration programme, includes a farm tour and workshops on feeding and nutrition plus cattle selection.
Broome Park is a 1,000 acre upland grass farm accommodating about 200 spring and autumn calving suckler cows.
The approach at Broome Park is to concentrate on producing higher value animals for carefully selected market outlets.
Cutting unnecessary costs is another important consideration and the aim is to finish animals earlier which means a higher number of animals can be kept on the farm.
