BRAZIL - BEEF EXPORTS FOR MARCH.
Brazilian beef exports were 106,730 tonnes carcase weight equivalent in March according to figures released by the industry and commerce ministry MDIC.
This was a fall of three per cent in volume and 14 per cent in value compared to the same month last year, as had been forecast.
However, the ministry said that the good news was that compared to February, when 85,800 tonnes were shipped abroad, there was an increase of 24 per cent in volume and 26 per cent in value.
These figures were the best recorded since October last year.
The average price also rose by one per cent between February and March.
The ministry said that when the economic crisis had been at its height, between September nd October, importers had opted to burn supplies, because they could not get credit and they did not know whether there would be any demand.
NOw supplies had fallen off and they were starting to come back to the market.
With growing export sales, the flood of beef on the domestic market has started to fall making this market also more attractive
