POULTRY EXPORTS.

Poultry exports from Brazil in 2008 were 3.6 million metric tons, which is an increase of 11 % on 2007 and ensures the position of Brazil as the worlds number one exporter of chickens..

The Brazil Chicken Exporters Association, released the figures in a press release on Tuesday in San Paulo.

The value of the poultry exports jumped by 40% to US$6.9 billion.

The main markets remain the Middle East and North Africa, where Brazilian poultry leads the pack for quality and Halal accreditation.
