Can you create a recipe fit for the Queen?
Budding chefs are being urged to get creative and come up with a dish in honour of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The NFU is asking members of the public to create a Diamond Jubilee chicken recipe fit for the monarch, who is celebrating her 60-year reign this year.
The winner of the competition, run via the Love Chicken website, will get one night’s stay at a top London hotel on Saturday June 2, the Jubilee weekend, along with ’200 in cash to spend on travel or on entertainment.
It means the winner, plus one other, can witness the celebrations for themselves, including the Parade and Muster at Windsor and its 2,500 British troops, as well as the Thames River Pageant, which will feature up to a thousand boats.
NFU poultry board member Kinsey Hern said: ’The competitions are always a big hit on the Love Chicken website and we hope our Diamond Jubilee Chicken challenge will really inspire people to come up with a recipe fit for The Queen.
’It doesn’t have to be too complicated, or it can be a twist on a classic ’ but all we ask is that they use British chicken and can call the recipe their own. We hope they can create something that will be just as iconic as Coronation Chicken, created especially for Her Majesty in 1953.’
