Checkers expanded to include LIVE Markets Directory

The Red Tractor Checker Services available through the ABM website (www.abm.org.uk) have once again been enhanced to include a live fully up to date directory of ABM Livestock Markets and Collection Centres.

This recent development allows for ABM assured livestock markets and collection centres to be searched for by using the business name, address, holding number or postcode. It also has a ’find your nearest market’ facility.

In addition to verifying the assurance status there will also be access to the markets’ sale details, email address, website and a map showing the exact market location.

Only beef and lamb produced from assured farms and which passes through an assured supply chain, including transport, markets/collection centres and abattoirs, is eligible to carry the Red Tractor logo, the need to validate the assurance status at each stage of the supply chain is crucial to the credibility of the Red Tractor logo.

The Red Tractor Checker Services have become a vital tool for the industry and it is hoped this new development will not only allow abattoirs to verify that assured livestock have been correctly assured but it will also allow producers to check that any market/collection centre they use for their assured animals are not going to cause a break in the assurance chain.
