WAL-MART MAKE A MOVE INTO CHILE.
The worlds largest retailer of food Wal-Mart, has launched a tender offer to acquire the Chilean supermarket chain D&S.
Chile boasts a vibrant supermarket trade, enjoying one of the strongest economies in Latin America. Wal-Mart has said in numerous statements to the media, that they intend to become very important players on the Chilean retail market.
Mike Duke, vice president of Wal-Mart, said " Moving into Chile is an important step in implementing Wal-Mart International’s strategy. We continue to focus on portfolio optimisation, global leverage and winning every market. A successful tender offer will give Wal-Mart the opportunity to be a significant participant in Chile".
