The CLA today extended its Student Membership package to the sons and daughters of existing landowning and business and professional CLA members for free – making an annual saving of £30.
CLA Student Membership is available to anyone studying on a full-time or part-time land related course in England or Wales. Membership provides regular news and information on what matters in land ownership and land management, as well as networking opportunities for those preparing for a rural land-based career.
Benefits include member-only access to the CLA website, e-editions of the CLA’s award-winning Land & Business magazine, e-news mailings and discounts on tickets for The CLA Game Fair, which will take place this year at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, from 22-24 July.
CLA President William Worsley said CLA Student Membership is for those who are serious about a career within the rural economy.
He said: "I know that many members have sons and daughters who are already in or who are planning careers in land management and related subjects. The CLA has a long-standing reputation as the principal source of up to date thinking on the issues that matter to landowners.
"It enables students to access the latest thinking on the rural economy, keeping them up to date with the information and insights on the issues relating to the countryside and their studies."
One of the first students to take up this offer, 19-year-old Eleanor Leivers, studying Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams, said: "It is a privilege to be one of the first students to become a CLA member. It’s very useful for my background research. I really enjoy reading Land & Business magazine."
Louise Roberts, 21, said: "As a final year student, I find the e-newsletters and briefings very helpful for keeping up to date with what’s happening in the industry. I am delighted and grateful for this opportunity."
