County Show time once again

It's County Show time once again, and one of the first to be held in 2007 will be the popular Newark and Nottinghamshire Show on 12 and 13 May with its host of livestock classes including beef and dairy cattle, pigs, sheep and Angora goats.

The Newark and Nottinghamshire Show is renowned for its quality livestock on display and exhibitors are requested to submit their entries in good time.

Beef classes include Commercial Beef, sponsored by the Sir John Eastwood Foundation, the Streets and Company Lincoln Red, British Belgian Blue, Longhorn, British Native Breeds and Continental Breeds while the dairy classes include Dexter, Holstein and Jersey.

Sheep and goat classes include Lincoln Longwool, Texel and Angora Fleece plus the champion Angora goat.

The many pig classes include traditional and modern breeds and the bacon carcase competition with special awards for the best carcase exhibited by a farmer resident in Lincolnshire and the producer of the best Nottinghamshire carcase.

Schedules are now ready for the 353 classes, specials and championships. Entries close on Monday 26 March.

All schedule applications should be made to Laura Waddington, Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society, The County Showground, Winthorpe, Newark NG24 2NY enclosing a stamped addressed A5 envelope.
