DairyCo Chairman to Address Welsh Council

Tim Bennett, DairyCo Chairman, will be guest speaker at the next meeting of NFU Cymru’s ruling body, Welsh Council, on Wednesday, 18 January 2012.

Mr Bennett, of Maesybont, Carmarthenshire, has spent the majority of his farming career milking pedigree Holsteins in partnership with his wife at Derwendeg. A former NFU President, he was appointed DairyCo Chairman in March 2007 and as a consequence of that appointment he also sits on the board of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board.

He is also currently Food Standards Agency vice chairman and a trustee of the Farm and Wildlife Advisory Group. Five years ago he was made an Associate of the Royal Agricultural Society and, in recognition of his continued outstanding contributions, made a Fellow in 2010.

This meeting of Welsh Council will be held over two days at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells, on Tuesday, 17 January and Wednesday, 18 January 2012. Mr Bennett will speak on Wednesday, 18 January. The meeting will start at 8.30am.

Day one of the meeting will incorporate the Annual General Meeting which will include the election of NFU Cymru office-holders for the next two years.
