Ellis Dawe appointed new CLAAS dealer

CLAAS UK has confirmed the appointment of Ellis Dawe as a tractor and 'Green Harvest' product dealer.

This appointment follows the removal from Ellis Dawe of their previous main franchise after 26 years, as part of a restructuring of that company's dealer territories in the western region.

"Having the CLAAS franchise works well for both companies," explains John Wiffen, managing director of Ellis Dawe, which is based at Birtsmorton near Malvern. "CLAAS had a void in dealer coverage in this area and the CLAAS range of products suits us very well. It is a top quality product and the new range of tractors are comparable to what we were selling before."

"Grassland equipment accounts for 40% of sales, and although we did look at other manufacturers, they could not offer both tractors and the complete range of products we require. With CLAAS we can sell everything we did before, plus more, for instance big balers."

Starting life as a forge and blacksmith, Ellis Dawe was established over 100 years ago, and more recently has built-up a high reputation for the level of service it provides customers. This was highlighted last year when Service Manager Richard Allard was named 'Technician of the Year' for their previous franchise, whilst Ted Franklin recently celebrated 40 years with the company, so contributes a wealth of experience.

"Although the franchise has been taken away from us we will continue to provide our existing customers with a full service back-up. The CLAAS tractor range already uses DPS engines, so our six technicians are already familiar with those, and they will also be trained for CLAAS combines and foragers."

"Dealer's such as Ellis Dawe don't become available very often, so naturally we are extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to appoint such a high quality dealer, who like us has a strong commitment to providing customers with a high level of service," comments CLAAS sales manager Trevor Tyrrell.
