Enjoy the Taste of Scotland Returns to Glasgow

This year sees the fourth year of Tesco’s Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event which promises to be even bigger and better than ever. Over 100 Scottish food and drink suppliers will be under one marquee in Glasgow’s George Square from 8th to 10th May 2009. Over 21,000 people are expected to attend Scotland’s most popular food and drink show.

Visitors will be able to take a culinary tour of Scotland, browsing stalls and meeting the enthusiastic producers from all over Scotland whose passion for their products has helped shaped this special event. Follow the trail around Scotland and discover just how diverse Scotland’s larder is. Sample creamy Orkney cheddar, and discover garlic grown on the Moray Firth coast, before trying Scottish heather and blossom honey from Perthshire. If sweet tablet and fudge from Tillicoutry doesn’t tempt you then caramel shortbread ice cream from Dumfries and Galloway certainly will. And there will also be a great selection of ales and whiskies including traditional favorites such as Blessed Thistle from Cairngorm Brewery and exiting new contemporary beers from BrewDog.

The Celebrity Cookery Theatre, one of last year’s must see attractions which played host to luminaries such as Nick Nairn and Andrew Fairlie, will again see a line up of top Scottish chefs. They will be gracing the cookery theatre demonstrating some of their favorite recipes using the finest Scottish produce inspiring the audience to explore Scotland’s diverse larder.

Why not make it a family day out, taking advantage of the FREE entrance and let the kids have a good time in the Kids’ Zone whilst learning about food and healthy eating. With hands on activities such as planting herbs and milking Daisy the Cow, as well as cookery workshops and competitions, kids of all ages will be spoilt for choice.

The 2009 Enjoy the Taste of Scotland event promises to be a fantastic day out for families and foodies alike. Make sure you don’t miss out and pop the date in your diary.
