Lucinda Fredricks, winner of Express Eventing 2012, jumped to victory on legendary mare Headley Britannia, thrilling the crowds in the Main Arena at the CLA Game Fair at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire today.
Following a series of arena-based disciplines including freestyle "dressage to music", cross country and show jumping Fredricks beat famous faces including Sam Griffiths, Vittoria Panizzon, Carol Pearson and Fiona Hobby to win the £500 prize money.
Lucinda Fredricks said: "I owe a lot to this horse who has previously won the Rolex Grand Slam of Badminton, Burghley and Kentucky. She was a 15.2 chestnut mare that no one wanted but look at her now. I am so proud to be riding her in this fantastic event and we hope to be back next year."
Fredricks concluded by thanking event sponsors and supporters Equetek and co-owner Ellie Fredricks.
Throughout the competition the riders were interviewed, giving tips and techniques to the enthralled audience, sharing with them what it is like to ride in the pulsating atmosphere of the CLA Game Fair Main Arena.
Express Eventing Equestrian Director Stephen Renouard said: "We were delighted to be a part of the CLA Game Fair this year, and look forward to next year."
CLA Game Fair Director Andrew Crawford said: "This is our first Equestrian Sunday, and Express Eventing has taken centre stage showcasing extremely talented riding in this fast pace competition. The packed grandstand demonstrated what a real success it was our congratulations go to Lucinda and her family."
