EU CHALLENGES SANCTIONS.
The European Union has filed a new challenge at the World Trade Organization, against sanctions imposed by the United States and Canada on imports of EU products.
The move is seen as retaliation to the EU’s ban on hormone treated beef from the two countries. This is a case that has been ongoing since 1996. European Union spokesman Peter Bower, said " We are convinced that our legislation on hormones is fully in line with WTO law, the restrictions on hormone treated beef are based on solid scientific evidence showing risks to human health".
This fiasco along with banana dispute with Ecuador, are the two longest trade disputes currently in the European Union, both seem to have reached yet another stale-mate.
